More on Moore...

Larry Moore Plein Air Workshop held Feb 17-19, 2012

Twelve artists took on the plein air challenge on a weekend of variable weather with award-winning Winter Park artist Larry Moore, in the Melbourne and Eau Gallie area. Starting at the guild with a lecture, we moved on to Melbourne Harbor for a demo, and then to try our own hand. Using a limited palette, artists tried to emulate Larry's technique. The second day was at the Rosseter House in downtown Eau Gallie, with the garden and house vistas. Larry did another demo, and then it was our turn, under sometimes cloudy conditions. Having spied a pirate ship in Eau Gallie Yacht basin, the 3rd day we were happy to see it anchored off our third location of Ballard Park in Eau Gallie. We got to meet the captain, who gratiously dressed in his full pirate costume. Larry demod a quick painting of both the ship, and of the captain. The artist then took a turn at it, under sometime varying conditions, until forced by winds to retire to the guild for a slide show discussion of composition and artistic choices. All the artists were glad for the opportunity to hear more of Larry's insights.
