Our members show, the first of many to come, opened April 23 with the awards announcement. We had great participation with 34 total entries, which now grace our guild space in a beautiful display, under some new lighting in the west wall. Our judge, Melbourne Art Museum exhibits curator Jackie Borsanyi, picked the winning entries which were announced Saturday. Thank you Jackie for taking time to judge our show and congratulations to the selected artists. Without further ado, the selected pieces were:

Best of Show : "Bill's Lagoon" by Heather Kelley

1st Place: "Black is Not a Color" by Jini James

2nd Place: "Morning Becomes Alexsa" by Carmen Beecher

3rd Place: "Apple Butter Sale" by Chris Bergum

Early next week the winning artworks will be moved to be on display at the 905 Cafe' next door for a period of one month. The remaining pieces continue to hang in the guild for our enjoyment as well as our visitors. Check out the online show gallery here on our blog for photos of most of the entries - it should contain at least one from each entrant.
